All shinedown albums ranked3/29/2023 That may be because it sounds like a bunch of demo tapes or maybe because the Foo Fighters had not yet jelled as a band. Their debut album has some certified classics on it, but it doesn’t stand on its own as a classic album. Highlights: “Congregation,” “What Did I Do?/God as My Witness” & “I Am a River” it’s very much a “you don’t want to see how the sausage is made” situation. Unfortunately, the show gives us a window into the creative process that I don’t think we needed to see. Sonic Highways was a fantastic TV show about the Foo Fighters recording albums in various famous recording studios. This album’s main handicap is its connection to the documentary series of the same name. Highlights: “Run,” “The Sky is a Neighborhood” & “ La Dee Da” I don’t hate it, and if it was released by anyone else it may have gotten more of my attention, but as a Foo Fighters release it’s a bit disappointing. What it’s not is very listenable, which is unfortunate. Without further ado let’s start with #10.Ĭoncrete and Gold is an ambitious album, it’s heavy, it’s raw, and it’s experimental. Also, unlike my usual ramblings, I’m going to try to make this one short, wish me luck. Of course, the Foos have a lot of releases that wouldn’t fall in this category, so for the sake of brevity, we’re not going to talk about those. Here is my attempt to create a half-assed tribute to a great drummer and also rank the 10 canonical Foo Fighters albums. Then Taylor Hawkins died and it occurred to me that I never actually fulfilled that goal. The Foo Fighters have always been one of my favorite bands, and a few months ago I was thinking “I should probably rank their albums because that’s a thing I do”.
